Rich Knight has been working professionally creating powerful imagery for more than 25 years. His tool of choice for recording images is a large format 4x5 field camera. The large film size allows even mural size prints to retain astonishing detail and image tone. The intricate film to lens alignment made possible by the large format camera's movements allow him to achieve his unique vision.

Rich's work explores the natural environment with both classical and abstract views using light and perspective to convey his impressions. His landscape images come mainly from the deserts and mountains of the southwestern US National Parks, Monuments and Forests. He works and travels from his home in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains in northern California.

Rich's passion for making photographs started more than 40 years ago when he was introduced to the magic of photography by his father while working in a tiny darkroom in the basement of his parents' home. Motivated by his eagerness to learn the craft, he has followed in the footsteps of the great landscape photographers that preceded him. Studying the work of Ansel Adams, the Westons and others, he has taught himself the techniques necessary to express his artful and active imagination.
